Description

For sample persons under age 18 who have taken at least one medicine in the past two weeks, MED2WDREC1 indicates if a doctor recommended the first type of medication the child is reported to have taken in the previous two weeks. Those who answered "yes" to MED2WRX1 have been recoded to 3 ("Doctor prescribed") in MED2WDREC1. Users interested in knowing whether the doctor had recommended each of the different medicines the child was reported to have taken in the past two weeks should also use MED2WDREC2, MED2WDREC3, MED2WDREC4, MED2WDREC5, MED2WDREC6, MED2WDREC7, and MED2WDREC8. MED2WDREC1 is part of the "Medicine Use" section of the 1981 Child Health Supplement.
