Description

For sample persons under age 18 who have taken five or more medicines in the past two weeks, MED2WDREC5 indicates if a doctor recommended the fifth type of medication the child is reported to have taken in the previous two weeks. Those who answered "yes" to MED2WRX5 have been recoded to 3 ("Doctor prescribed") in MED2WRX5.

Related Variables
Respondents are also asked about the type of fifth reported medication used MED2W5, the main health problem for which the fifth reported medication was used MED2WPROB5, whether or not a doctor prescribed the fifth reported medication MED2WRX5, and the frequency with which the fifth reported medication was taken in the past three months MED2WFREQ5.
