Description
CTSWRKRETOLD indicates if the sample person has ever been told by a doctor or other health professional that their carpal tunnel syndrome was probably work related. This inquiry was directed at sample adults aged 18 and over who are currently employed (EMPSTATSA) or employed at some time in the past 12 months (EMPSTATWKYR) who also reported having carpal tunnel syndrome in the past 12 months (CTSYR) and who were first diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome at age 15 or older (CTS1STAGE).
Related Variables
Sample adults who were told that their condition was probably work related in CTSWRKRETOLD were asked follow-up questions to ascertain which and what type job their condition was connected.
The variables based on these follow-up questions were:
- (CTSWKCURJOB) Carpal tunnel syndrome related to current or most recent job
- (CTSWKLNGJOB) Carpal tunnel syndrome related to longest job held
- (CTSWKDETIND) Detailed industry classification at past job related to carpal tunnel syndrome
- (CTSWKSIMIND) Simple industry classification at past job related to carpal tunnel syndrome
- (CTSWKDETOCC) Detailed occupational classification at past job related to carpal tunnel syndrome
- (CTSWKSIMOCC) Simple occupational classification at past job related to carpal tunnel syndrome

- 2010; 2015: Sample adults age 18+ who are currently employed or were employed at some time in the past 12 months, who reported having carpal tunnel syndrome in the past 12 months, who were first diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome at age 15 or older or whose age at diagnosis was unknown.
