Description
CTSWKSIMOCC reports the sample person's simple occupation classification for their past job related to carpal tunnel syndrome. This inquiry was directed at sample persons age 18 years and over who are currently employed (EMPSTATSA) or employed at some time in the past 12 months (EMPSTATWKYR) who reported having carpal tunnel syndrome in the past 12 months (CTSYR), who were first diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome at age 15 or older (CTS1STAGE), who have been told by a doctor or other health professional that their carpal tunnel syndrome was probably work related (CTSWRKRETOLD), whose current job or job in the past 12 months and their longest-held job, if different from their current job or job in the past 12 months (MAINLONG) was not the cause of their carpal tunnel syndrome (CTSWKCURJOB, CTSWKLNGJOB).
CTSWKSIMOCC is a recode of a series of verbatim responses reporting "whom they worked for", "what kind of business or industry", "what kind of work", and "what were their most important activities" at their job when they developed carpal tunnel syndrome. For a list of these recodes, and for information on the industry and occupation codes see CTSWKDETIND.
For more information on carpal tunnel syndrome and other variables related to connections between specific conditions and jobs held see CTSEV.
