Comparability

This variable is comparable across the 2011-13 and 2015 and later samples. NHIS reports that estimates based on GLUCCHEK1YR in 2014 are not comparable with other years. In 2014, additional diabetes screening questions were included to ascertain the time since last glucose check; persons who did not know the time since last glucose check were asked if they have had their blood glucose checked in the past 12 months. Respondents who broke off participation prior to that question were recorded as Not Ascertained even if they had provided valid responses to the time since last glucose check questions.
