Description
CANOPINION indicates that the sample person got more than one opinion about the cancer treatment they should have. This inquiry was directed at sample persons age 18 years and over who were ever diagnosed with one kind of cancer (CANCEREV, CANCERNO) and were diagnosed in the past 10 years (CAN1DIAGDY, CAN1DIAGE) or who were diagnosed with more than one kind of cancer (CANCERNO) and most recent cancer was diagnose in the past 10 years (CANRECDIAGDY, CANRECDIAGE).
The field representative's manual states that if asked "'opinion' refers to qualified medical opinions only. Do not count the personal opinions of non-medical persons, such as family, friends, religious leaders, etc.".
Universe
- 1992: Sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks in quarter 3 who were ever diagnosed with one kind of cancer and were diagnosed in the past 10 years OR who were diagnosed with more than one kind of cancer and most recent cancer was diagnosed in the past 10 years.
