Description
For persons with one or more chronic conditions who have mobility limitations due to health issues, LIMOBTP reports the time period (in months or years) the current mobility limitation has persisted for. LIMOBTP should be used in conjunction with LIMOBNO, which reports the corresponding number of units. See LIMOB for information on the amount of mobility limitation.
This variable was introduced in 1972 as part of a series of variables related to the difficulty of doing various activities due to a physical/mental condition, the use of help from others to carry on such activities, and the number of years this difficulty has persisted. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
