Description

For persons with one or more chronic conditions, LIMOB reports the person's mobility limitations due to health issues, such as being confined to the bed or house, or needing help. Interviewers are instructed to repeat the question by stating each statement separately and asking if it applies to the person, if there is any indication that the person does not understand the question.

This variable was introduced in 1972 as part of a series of variables related to the difficulty of doing various activities due to a physical/mental condition, the use of help from others to carry on such activities, and the number of years this difficulty has persisted.
