For sample respondents age 18 and over, SMOKHOMRES indicates whether anyone who lived at the respondent's home smoked cigarettes, cigars, or pipes anywhere inside home the respondent's home (at the time of the survey). These terms were all respondent defined.
[show more]The question wording changed between 1994 and 2005 forward. In 2005, respondents were asked to recall if "in a usual week" any resident smoked inside the home.
For all years, respondents who answered affirmatively were asked to report the number of residents smoking inside home (SMOKHOMRESNO ), and the average number of days per week a resident smokes inside their home (SMOKHOMRESDA ).
