Description
For sample persons age 55 and over, this variable indicates if the respondent ever had a heart attack, other than a myocardial infarction (HEARTATTEV), which was asked immediately prior to HEARTATTOEV. The inquiry did not require a diagnosis by a medical doctor or health professional.
[show more]This variable was part of the 1984 Supplement on Aging, which asked respondents if they had or ever had vision, hearing, heart, and bone conditions and other impairments.
Along with HEARTATTOEV, respondents were asked if they ever had any 12 other conditions and could indicate as many as necessary.
