Description

For sample persons ages 18 and over, WEIGHTK reports the persons weight in kilograms.

The question for WEIGHTK in 1977 was asked for a sub-sample of randomly selected persons age 20 and over; NHIS automatically classifies persons who were selected but did not complete the questions as responding "unknown " for this variable. Users may choose to use this variable in combination with SUBSRESP77, which reports the person's sub-sample status in 1977.

  • 1977: Subsampled persons age 20+.
  • 1991: Sample persons age 18+.
  • 1992: Sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3.
  • 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 3 and 4 (excluded from AIDS supplement).
  • 1995: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from AIDS supplement).
