Description
For sample adults who have ever had a skin cancer exam (SKNCANX), SKNXMGYR2 reports the time since the last skin exam was done in terms of time categories ("A year ago or less," "More than 1 year but not more than 2 years," "More than 2 years but not more than 3 years," "More than 3 years but not more than 5 years," and "Over 5 years ago").
[show more]The 2000 NHIS Survey Description advises data analysts to use the summary recodes (SKNXMRMO, SKNXMGYR) "rather than the answers to the original subquestions [SKNXMDMO, SKNXMDYR, SKNXMNO, SKNXMTP, SKNXMEYR]" since "the recodes include all respondents who were eligible for the test, while the raw answers applied only to the subset of respondents who gave the time in a particular format."
SKNXMGYR2 is a summary recode of other source variables.
