Description
For sample adults age 50+ who have had a Shingrix vaccine (SHOTSGRXEV) or sample adults 18+ with a weakened immune system (IMSPCHC) who have had a Shingrix vaccine, SHOTSGRXNO reports the total number of Shingrix shots they have ever had. Prior to 2022, SHOTSGRXNO was asked only of sample adults aged 50 and older who had had the Shingrix vaccine (SHOTSGRXEV),
SHOTSGRXNO is part of a series of variables initiated in 2018 covering shingles vaccinations.

Comparability
This variable has some comparability issues over time.
In 2022, the universe for SHOTSGRXNO was expanded to include sample adults 18+ with a weakened immune system (IMSPCHC). Prior to 2022, the universe was limited to sample adults aged 50 and older.
The NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content. For more information on changes in terminology, universes, and data collection methods beginning in 2019, please see the user note.

- 2018: Sample adults 50+ who have had a Shingrix vaccine.
- 2019-2021: Sample adults age 50+ who have had a Shingrix vaccine (SHOTSGRXEV).
- 2022: Sample adults age 50+ who have had a Shingrix vaccine (SHOTSGRXEV) or sample adults 18+ with a weakened immune system (IMSPCHC) who have had a Shingrix vaccine.
