Description
For sample children with two residential parents, PAR2MARST indicates the current marital status of the second parent. This variable classifies marital status into categories that are comparable to those in the 1997-2018 NHIS. Current marital status for the first residential parent is indicated by PAR1MARST.
This variable was deprecated in 2024. Users looking for a current measure of parental marital status should use PAR2MARCUR.
