Description

For sample children with at least one residential parent, PAR1MARCUR indicates the current marital status of that parent. This variable classifies marital status into categories that are comparable to those in the 1997-2018 NHIS. Current marital status for a second residential parent is indicated by PAR2MARCUR.

This variable replaces PAR1MARST which was deprecated in 2024.
