Description
For sample children age 7 to 17 (in 1991) or 7 to 15 (in 1998) who played football as part of an organized sport during the past 12 months (PLAYFOOTB), MGFOOTB reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, when playing football, how often did [sample child] wear a mouth guard to protect [his/her] mouth and teeth-- all or most of the time, some of the time, once in awhile, or never?"
The 1991 Field Representative's Manual defines "organized sports" as any sport that has a sponsor, including school-related activities (such as school varsity or junior varsity teams, intramural or club sports, and physical education classes) or sports played through community organizations, Little League, recreation centers, or Scouts, as well as private lessons.
