Description

For sample adults aged 18 and over years, MDIETALK indicates if a doctor or other health professional talked to the respondent about his or her diet in the past 12 months.

In the past 12 months, other tests mentioned are:

  • Fasting test for high blood sugar/diabetes
  • (GLUCCHEK1YR)

This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Comparability

Aside from a slight change in universe between 2000 and later samples, there are no comparability issues.

Universe

  • 2000: Sample adults age 18+ who have seen or talked to a doctor or health care professional about their health within the past year.
  • 2011-2017: Sample adults age 18+.
