Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults in 2000 who had taken herbal supplements (HERYR) for at least one month (HERYMONO) in the past 12 months, HERYDPW is a recoded variable based on responses to the question, "During (the/those) month(s), about how many (days/days per month) did you take herbal supplements?" The National Center for Health Statistics used the information recorded in two separate variables covering the time unit selected by the respondent (HERYDAYTP) and the number of units reported (HERYDAYNO) to create the new variable HERYDPW with a single time unit of days per week.
HERYDPM is a similar recoded variable reporting the frequency of taking herbal or botanical supplements with a single time unit of days per month.
