Description

For sample adults and sample children in 2007 who had taken herbal supplements during the past 30 days (HERMO), HERMOSUPNO reports how many of the 45 specified herbal supplements the sample person had taken during the past month.

Interviewers asked whether sample adults and sample children had taken any herbal supplements in the past month. Respondents who had done so then indicated which of 45 herbal supplements listed on a flash card had been taken by sample persons. HERMOSUPNO is a summary variable that reports a sample person's number of "Yes" responses (ranging from 1 to 45) to the series of variables inquiring about a person's use of particular herbal supplements. Combination herb pills that contain multiple herbs are counted as 1 herb in HERMOSUPNO. For sample adults who had taken a combination herb pill, HERCOMBONO reports the number of herbs included in the pill.
