Description

For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975 who had participated in swimming in the past 12 months (EXSWIMPAR), EXSWIMTOR indicates whether the person had taken participated in swimming tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team during the past 12 months.

Swimming was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. In addition to being asked if they had participated in swimming tournaments, those who indicated that they had played swimming (EXSWIMPAR) were asked whether they had participated in swimming as a member of an organized team in the past 12 months (EXSWIMTEM).

Comparability
