Description

For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975, EXSWIMPAR indicates whether the person had participated in swimming in the past 12 months.

Swimming was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. Those who responded "Yes" to EXSWIMPAR were asked whether they had participated in swimming as part of a team (EXSWIMTEM) and whether they had participated in swimming tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team (EXSWIMTOR) during the past 12 months.

Comparability

There are no comparability problems for EXSWIMPAR.
