Description
For sample persons in 1991 whose last routine check-up was less than 1 year ago (PHYSICALYRS) and whose doctor or other health professional recommended beginning or continuing aerobics or aerobic dancing (EXDAE), EXDAEMTL indicates whether respondents were advised to check how hard they should exercise by employing the talk test--exercising to the level that talking is difficult.

Sample adults who were told to do aerobics/aerobic dancing were also asked the recommended frequency and duration of each session of aerobics/aerobic dancing, as well as what method they were advised to use to check how hard they should exercise.

Along with reporting aerobics/aerobic dancing, respondents could say they were advised to do any of 8 other physical activities (including one residual "other" category).
