Related Aerobics/Aerobic Dancing Variables
Sample adults who were advised to do aerobics/aerobic dancing were also asked the recommended frequency of aerobics/aerobic dancing, as well as what method they were advised to use to check how hard they should exercise.
Responses to these follow-up questions can be found in the following variables:
- EXDAEWK (times per week doctor told to do aerobics)
- EXDAEMBR (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: breathing)
- EXDAEMHR (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: heart rate)
- EXDAEMSW (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: sweating)
- EXDAEMTL (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: talking)
- EXDAEMSP (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: distance or speed)
- EXDAEMOTH (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: other)
- EXDAEMNO (doctor recommended method of checking aerobics: none)
Sample adults were also asked whether they were advised by their doctor or other health professional to do other physical activities. Along with reporting aerobics/aerobic dancing, respondents could report being advised to do any of 8 other physical activities (including one residual "other" category). For more information on the variables related to these other activities, see EXDOCREC.
