For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975 who had participated in bowling in the past 12 months (EXBOWLPAR), EXBOWLTOR indicates whether the person had taken participated in bowling tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team during the past 12 months.

Bowling was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. In addition to being asked if they had participated in bowling tournaments, those who indicated that they had participated in bowling (EXBOWLPAR) were asked whether they had participated in bowling as a member of an organized team in the past 12 months (EXBOWLTEM).

Comparability
