Description

For sample persons aged 18 years and over who agree that diet has little effect on developing major diseases (EHDEFFECT) and have heard or read how diet can prevent some major diseases (EHDEFFECTHER), EHDOTHERHER indicates whether the respondent has heard or read another disease (or other diseases) may be related to what people eat and drink.

Interviewers were instructed to mark all diseases mentioned by the respondent in their corresponding category, but instructed not to probe for additional responses. If the respondent mentioned a disease not included in this list, "Other" was recorded as a response. Respondents could list more than one major disease.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
