Description

For sample adults, DISSERV indicates how often the respondent felt they received poorer service at restaurants or stores than other people.

DISSERV is one of a series of questions asked in 2023 from the Everyday Discrimination Scale (EDS) – Short Version and the abbreviated 4-item Heightened Vigilance Scale (HVS). These questions were added to the Sample Adult interview to better understand how discrimination relates to health outcomes, and how heightened vigilance may mediate those associations.
