Description

For sample adult women ages 18 to 45 CAREMICLIN reports if the woman received care at a maternal and infant health clinic in the past 12 months.

CAREMICLIN was first introduced as part of the 1988 and 1989 AIDS knowledge and attitudes supplement. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

Apart from changes in the survey quarters sampled for this question, there are no comparability issues. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. Data users are reminded to use the prescribed IHIS weights in their analyses.

Universe

  • 1988: Female sample persons age 18 to 45 in quarters 2 through 4.
  • 1989: Female sample persons age 18 to 45.
