Description
CANTREATNOW indicates if sample persons are currently in active treatment for cancer. In 1995 this inquiry was directed at sample adults 18 years and older, in 2010 it was directed at sample persons age 18 years and older who were ever told they had cancer (CANCEREV) and received either surgery (CANTREATSURG), radiation (CANTREATRAD), chemotherapy (CANTREATCHEM), hormonal treatment (CANTREATHORM), bone marrow or stem cell transplant (CANTREATMARO), or some other type of treatment (CANTREATOTH) in the past 12 months (CANTREATYR).
[show more]The field representative's manual in 1995 states if the sample person "goes now only for an annual check-up, including special tests such as a mammogram, cystoscopy, etc." they are only considered being currently treated if they had cancer within the past 5 years.
