Description
For sample adults and, beginning in 2012, sample children who were ever told by a doctor or other health professional the cause(s) or diagnosis of their dizziness or balance problem (BALHPDIAG), BALCVERT indicates whether benign positional vertigo (BPV) was a cause.
This variable was part of the Sample Adult and Child Balance Supplement, all sponsored by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
Comparability
Please see the Universe tab for information on how the universe has changed over time for this variable. For sample adults in 2008, this variable refers to their "most bothersome dizziness or balance problem" (BALSBOTHER); for sample children in all samples and sample adults in 2016, it refers more generally to "dizziness or balance problem(s)."
