Description

For persons who mentioned that they had any other mental disorder(s) during the past 12 months (CMIOTMEN12 = 2) and who saw a doctor or other health professional for their mental disorder(s) but was never given a diagnosis for this other mental disorder, CMIOTMDSPEC reports if the person's doctor or health professional has ever used another technical or specific name to refer to his or her other mental disorder.

This variable is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of mental illnesses, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
