Description
For persons who had any other mental disorder(s) other than the disorders mentioned earlier during the interview (CMIOTMEN12 = 2), CMIOTDIS reports the ICD-9 code of this other disorder.
Respondents were asked for verbatim names or descriptions of the other disorders. These names and descriptions were later coded using the ICD-9 codes.
CMIOTDIS is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of illness, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive. For more information about this supplement and other related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
