Description

BALSOTHER indicates whether the person was bothered by episodes of any other type of symptoms of balance or dizziness problems in the last 12 months. Please see the Universe and Comparability tabs for information on how this variable changes over time.

This variable was part of the Sample Adult and Sample Child Balance Supplements, sponsored by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.

Comparability

Beginning in 2012, this variable includes sample children aged three and older. Beginning in 2016, this variable includes responses from sample adults 18 and older who have ever had a problem with dizziness or balance and sample adults who have had a dizziness or balance problem in the past 12 months (BALDIZYR) or sample adults who have ever reported having a problem of at least one specific dizziness or balance problem in the past 12 months (BALPROBNO).
