Description
For sample adults and sample children without a usual place of care (USUALPL =1), NOUSLYOTH indicates the reason that the person did not have a usual source of medical care was that he or she had another reason, not listed. Respondents' answers were categorized into different reasons for not having a usual place of care, which serve as reference points by which to interpret the meaning of mentioning another reason for not having a usual place of care.
Other reasons mentioned are:
- Doesn't need a doctor or hasn't had problems

- Doesn't like, trust or believe in doctors

- Doesn't know where to go

- Previous doctor is not available or moved

- No care available or too far away or not convenient

This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
