For sample persons over age 40 who have ever heard of a blood stool test, have had a blood stool test in the past three years, and whose reason for the last test was because of a specific health problem, BSTYLULC reports that the specific health problem was ulcers. Respondents could indicate more than one problem as the reason for the test. Related variables are listed below.

- 1987: Half of sample persons age 40+ (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have heard of blood stool test and have had a blood stool test in the past 3 years because of a health problem.
- 1992: Half of sample persons persons age 40+ in quarters 1 and 2 and 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have heard of blood stool test and have had a blood stool test in the past three years because of a specific health problem.
