Description

For sample adults 17+ who are occasional smokers, CIGSDAYOS reports the average number of cigarettes that they smoke per day. Occasional smokers are respondents who ever smoked 100 cigarettes in their entire lives, who never smoked regularly, and who smoke cigarettes now.

Comparability

The universe for 1978 and 1980 only include sample persons age 17+ in quarters 3 and 4. Otherwise, there are no comparability issues with this variable.

  • 1978; 1980: Sample persons age 17+ in quarters 3 and 4 who ever smoked 100 cigarettes in their entire lives, who never smoked regularly, and who smoke cigarettes now.
