Description

For sample adults and sample children, VACH1N1GOT indicates whether the person had an H1N1 flu vaccination since October 2009.

The interviewer informed respondents that H1N1 flu is "sometimes called swine flu or pandemic flu."

The survey question associated with VACH1N1GOT was removed from the NHIS in August 2010. At that time, it was replaced with VACFLUSHYR and VACFLUSPYR (both for sample adults) and VACFLUYR (for sample children). These replacement variables identify whether sample persons had any flu vaccine in the past year and do not differentiate between vaccination for the seasonal flu and H1N1 flu.
