Description
For sample adults who worked for pay at a job or business last week, had a job or business last week but were temporarily absent, or worked but not for pay at a family-owned job or business or who last worked in the last 12 months (WHYNOWK2), WRKSCHED reports the sample person's work schedule. Before 2021, WRKSCHED was collected for sample adults who were currently employed or were employed at some point in the past 12 months. For more information see EMPSTAT.
For 2021, this is one of a series of questions on adult occupational health sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). For more information on these variables, see the variable description tab for EMPLTAX.
Comparability
Prior to 2019, this variable is comparable over time. Comparability may be affected by the 2019 questionnaire redesign. The NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content. For more information on changes in terminology, universes, and data collection methods beginning in 2019, please see the user note.
