Description
For sample adults who were not working for pay last week and were not on temporary leave from a job or business, WHYNOWK2 reports the main reason why the person did not work last week. Prior to 2019, WHYNOWK2 is asked of sample adults whose corrected working status last week was not working at a job or business and was not looking for work (EMPSTATSA = 5) or who was with a job or business but not at work (EMPSTATSA = 2).

Comparability
Prior to 2019 there are no comparability issues.

Universe
- 2004-2018: Sample adults age 18+ whose corrected working status last week was neither working at a job or business, nor looking for work, nor with a job or business but not at work.
- 2019-2024: Sample adults age 18+ who were not working for pay last week, and were not on temporary leave from a job or business last week.
