Description
For sample adults in 2007 and sample adults and children in 2012 who had taken herbal supplements during the past 30 days (HERMO) and whose supplements included at least one combination herb pill (HERMOCOMBO), HER1COMECH indicates whether Echinacea was among the herbs included in the first combination herb pill.
Related Variables
Echinacea was one of several possible herbs that respondents could indicate taking as part of their first herbal supplement containing more than one herb. Please use the IPUMS NHIS drop-down menus and search function to learn more about these variables.
Comparability
Interviewers showed respondents a flash card listing specific herbs and asked which supplements respondents had taken in the past 30 days. There were slight changes in the question wording and flash cards over time. For the specific question wording in each year, please click on the "Survey Text" tab.
