Description

For sample adults in 2002 and 2007, YTQYOGAEV reports whether the person had ever practiced yoga. Those who answered affirmatively in either were asked whether they had practiced yoga in the past 12 months (YTQYOGYR). In 2007, those who answered negatively (i.e., those who had never practiced yoga) were asked why they had never practiced yoga (see YTQNEVCOST). In 2007, information was also collected on the use of yoga by sample children in the past year.

YTQYOGAEV is part of a series of variables from the 2002 and 2007 supplements on Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Comparability

The question wording for YTQYOGAEV changed slightly between 2002 and 2007.

In 2002, respondents were asked, "Have you ever practiced any of the following types of exercise for your own health or treatment? Please say yes or no to each one. ... Yoga."

In 2007, respondents were asked, "Have you ever practiced any of the following? Please say yes or no to each. ... Yoga."
