Description
For sample adults who believe that good eating habits reduce the chances of developing major diseases (or whose beliefs on this were unknown) (EHDEFFECT), EHDCANCER indicates whether the respondent believes that cancer "may be related to what people eat and drink".
Interviewers were instructed to mark all diseases mentioned by the respondent in their corresponding category, but not instructed to provide a list of these disease categories to respondents. Respondents could list more than one major disease.

Universe
- 1987: Sample persons age 18+ who believe that good eating habits reduce disease.
- 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CACT supplement) who believe that good eating habits reduce disease.
