Description

For all persons, RADEN indicates whether the person cut down on normal activities for more than a half day because of a dental problem or dental visit during the past two weeks.

The total number of days that the person cut back on her/his normal activities due to a dental problem or visit is recorded in RADENTIM. RADEN is part of a series of variables used to determine whether an illness or injury has caused persons to restrict their usual activities during the two-week reference period.

RADEN was first introduced in 1989 as part of a Dental Health Supplement. For related variables and more information about the Dental Health Supplement, please use the search function and IPUMS NHIS drop-down menus, or see DENCOND.
