Description
For sample persons age 18 and over who were ever diagnosed with cancer and had more than one kind of cancer, CAN1STDIAGDY reports the year the person was diagnosed with the first cancer. Users can also refer to the related variables:
CAN1STPART , the part of the body that was affected; CAN1STDIAHOW, how the first cancer was first diagnosed; and CAN1STDIAGE, age the first cancer was diagnosed.
In 1992, the cancer items were contained in two questionnaires: (1) a cancer control supplement and (2) a cancer epidemiology supplement, with some questions overlapping both questionnaires. Each questionnaire was administered to half of the adult subsample selected for the cancer interview and was in the field for about 6 months.
Universe
- 1992: Sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 who were ever diagnosed with cancer and had 2+ kinds of cancer (or who had an unknown number of kinds of cancer).
