Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample persons ages 18 and over who expect to have a blood test for the AIDS virus infection in the next twelve months, ATRNYROTH1 reports if the respondent expects to have the blood test as a requirement for some other reason.
Comparability
Changes in reasons for having an HIV or AIDS test change across survey years. The inclusion of other response categories (e.g., pregnancy in 1997-1999) affect the comparability of ATRNYOTH1 over time.
Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
