Description
For sample adults who had taken two or more vitamin supplements in the past 30 days (VITMOSUPNO), VIT2SAME1 indicates whether respondents had taken the second vitamin supplement for the same reasons or for different reasons than they had taken the first vitamin supplement.
Related Variables
Respondents who indicated that they had taken the second vitamin for different reasons than they had taken the first, were asked to supply a reason for taking that second vitamin. The reasons for using a second vitamin supplement that were recorded by the survey, and the associated IPUMS NHIS variables, are:
- VIT2DRUGCOST (Prescription or non-prescription drugs too expensive)
- VIT2HCREC (Health care provider recommended)
- VIT2IMMUN (Improved immune function)
- VIT2MEDCOST (Medical treatment too expensive)
