Description

For sample adults and sample children in 2007 who had taken vitamins or minerals during the past 30 days (VITMO), VITMOSUPNO reports how many of the 20 specified vitamin and mineral supplements the sample person had taken during the past month.

Interviewers asked whether sample adults and sample children had taken any vitamins or minerals in the past month. Respondents who had done so then indicated which of 20 vitamins and minerals listed on a flash card had been taken by sample persons. VITMOSUPNO is a summary variable that reports a sample person's number of "Yes" responses (ranging from 1 to 20) to the series of variables inquiring about a person's use of particular vitamin/mineral supplements. Multi-vitamin or multi-mineral pills are counted as 1 vitamin/mineral in VITMOSUPNO.
