For sample adults in 2007 who had taken two or more vitamin supplements during the past 30 days (VITMOSUPNO) and had taken the second vitamin supplement to prevent (but not to treat or cure) a specific health problem or condition (VIT2PREV), VIT2PCONNO is a summary variable reporting the number of health conditions the respondent had tried to prevent by taking a second vitamin supplement.
For respondents who had taken a first vitamin supplement (VITMOSUPNO) to prevent a specific health problem (VIT1PREV), parallel information was collected on the number of health conditions the respondent had tried to prevent by taking that first vitamin supplement (VIT1PCONNO).
