Description
PSALTP reports the type of time period for the number of time units since the respondent's last PSA test. In 2003 and earlier years, this question was asked of male sample respondents aged 40 years and older who ever had a PSA test (PSAEV). In 2005 and later years, this question was asked of male sample respondents aged 40 years and older who ever had a PSA test (PSAEV) and who chose to answer in number and time period format. This variable accompanies PSALNO, which reports the number of units of the type of time period specified by the present variable.
Starting in 2005, the form instructed interviewers to, "Enter time period for time since most recent PSA test."
In some years, respondents could have alternatively chosen to answer this question using the month/year format. The variables for responses in this format are PSALDMO (month of last PSA test) and PSALDYR (year of last PSA test).
For more information, please see PSAEV.
