Description

For male sample adults aged 40 years and older who ever had a PSA test (PSAEV), PSALDYR reports the year of the respondent's most recent PSA test. This variable accompanies PSALDMO, which gives the month of the respondent's most recent PSA test.

Respondents could have alternatively chosen to answer this question using the time period format. The variables for responses in time period format are PSALNO (number of units since last PSA test) and PSALTP (time period accompanying number of units since last PSA test).

From 2005 forward, the survey form directed interviewers to, "Enter year of last PSA test."

Comparability

Beginning in 2018, the earliest year reported in PSALDYR was limited to 84 years before the current year. Otherwise, this variable is comparable over time.
