Description
For sample adults and sample children, TBICONHEADYR reports whether they have had headaches, sensitivity to light or noise, balance problems, or changes in mood or behavior as a result of a blow or jolt to the head in the past 12 months. If necessary, interviewers prompted respondents to "[p]lease think about all head injuries, for example, from playing sports, car accidents, falls, or being hit by something or someone that may have occurred in the past 12 months."
For more variables on head injury or concussion, as well as other injury-related variables, please see INJANY.
The question associated with this variable was included in the Concussions - past 12 months section (TBI) sponsored by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (CDC/NCIPC).
